MVAC System Setup for DHL Tsing Yi Logistics Hub

Project Background

DHL Express, the world's largest logistics services provider, announced HKD3.6 billion development of the new warehousing and distribution hub in Tsing Yi, Hong Kong. Located at Interlink, the new logistics hub will be DHL’s main supply chain operation centre and will commence operation in 2012. In May, 2012, DHL engaged the BPS Global Group to design the MVAC system for the hub and implement the installation for all floors within 3 months.

Project Challenges

• The logistics hub was planned to come into operation by Aug, 2012. Design, installation and commissioning had to be conducted within a very short time.
• Due to the big scale and complex structure of the MVAC system of the hub, project team from BPS had to work with many different involved parties in cooperation.

Project Timeline

The project was commenced in May, 2012 and completed in Aug, 2012 on schedule. The project duration is 3 months. (2012/5 – 2012/8)

Investment Term

• Project team from BPS worked closely with the clients and other involved parties to ensure the high accuracy of work and avoid project delay because of misunderstanding.
• An expert team was formed to design the most cost effective solutions with high quality for the huge and complex MVAC system.
• Considering the very tight schedule, BPS deployed more manpower in order to speed up the project. Installation of MVAC units for all floors was finally completed within 3 months. MVAC system setup in big scale normally takes at least 8 months. DHL was happy that BPS helped saving up to 60% of time.
• The project was completed in Aug, 2012 on schedule and the MVAC System is operating very smoothly.
